Deposition

The Expert Panel on Deposition coordinates the monitoring of atmospheric deposition in ICP Forests Level II plots.

The Expert Panel members define harmonized methods for collecting samples of rainfall, throughfall and stemflow and decide which element concentrations need to be measured in the water samples.

The aim of the Expert Panel Deposition is to analyse long-term trends in deposition of pollutants (sulphate, nitrate and ammonium) and neutralizing base cations (calcium, potassium and magnesium) and to follow up where critical loads of nitrogen are exceeded in Europe.
